Are you sitting down for this one? a whopping 95 points by James Halliday and a retail value of $55 at the cellar door.
Introducing the Gaelic Cemetery McAskill Cabernet Malbec 2019, a wine that honours tradition and craftsmanship. We always like to share a story behind the wine well this one is named after John McAskill, who donated land in 1860 for a cemetery for Gaelic-speaking Scottish pioneers. The land is right next door to the vineyard and is still a cemetery to this day.
When we tasted this we fell in love with it immediately. Made from 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Malbec, and a hint of Shiraz, it boasts vibrant red hues with aromatic notes of blue fruits, fresh blossoms, spice, and tobacco. Immediately you get the dry mouth feel which is another way of describing the strong tannins this wine presents. We can't wait to see how these soften over time and present a silky smooth medium to full bodies red wine in a few years after cellaring.
Wait.. these guys get more impressive! Gaelic Cemetery Vineyard is dedicated to sustainability with fully recyclable packaging and vegan-friendly wines!
Depending on what you like The Gaelic Cemetery McAskill Cabernet Malbec 2019 is perfect for immediate enjoyment or cellaring for up to 15 years.
Our suggestion - try one now and try one in another 5-7 years. You will get two different wines!
